Brown spots on zinc plated tube

April 14, 2010

We have some welded tube zinc plated and when we got them back, there are some brown spots.

Can anybody tell me if this will affect the zinc plated parts or what it is. Is this normal or how can we remove it without affecting stripping the that area?

Thanks,

Hi Terrence,

There is no zinc on the area you are looking at. Looks like a real large rack mark. I would complain on this one. It is already rusting. Your plater ought to be able to jig the part a little different to make this go away.

Good Luck,.
