Poor coverage and low efficiency in trivalent chrome plating
Q. How does a trivalent chrome plating system work?
It may contain complexant, chrome, catalyst and other ingredients.
Anyone have experience woth low plating efficiency and low coverage due to imbalance of the complexant to chrome ratio?

A. Hi, Chong. There are at least three competitive approaches to trivalent chrome plating, employing graphite vs. lead anodes, diaphragms with separate anolyte & catholyte compartments vs. no diaphragms, etc. Trivalent chrome plating is quite technical, complicated, and proprietary. I personally think your best best may be to get a technical data sheet (and hopefully technical assistance) from the vendor of your particular process, and ask them some detailed questions about their chemistry.
But if you can tell us which type of system you use, and the operating parameters, it's possible that a reader may be able to help. Good luck.
