Heating zinc plated springs to dull the finish

March 15, 2010

Does anyone know if you can heat galvanized (electroplated) zinc plated springs (size .040" Music Wire) at 675 degrees for about 10 minutes without ruining the zinc plate finish? Our customer wants the springs more dull (less shiny)

Or is there an electroplating zinc process which allow for a dull (non shiny) finish?

THANK YOU!

Tell your customer that you will send them to a company that has a special proprietary European process, them let them stay outdoors for a week and you got it.
