Heat resistant coating for wood

I'd like to hang a wood and metal piece of artwork in back of my cooktop that is tiled. I do have an exhaust hood which is vented to the outside but I'm concerned about the heat that is generated. Is there a clear coating that I can apply to this artwork to be sure it's safe.

Thanks for your help.

Hi, Karen. Sorry, that won't work. If the spot is too hot for wood it's too hot for wood. The coating will have almost no effect on the temperature that the wood reaches.
