Iridium mirrored coatings on motorcycle face shields
I have a clear motorcycle face shield, I believe it is polycarbonate (It's a Shark Evoline shield). It is only available in clear or tint, so I can't get iridium and or the various mirrored colors (I believe it's done with flash coating). How can I achieve this without a mass production issue? Can I flash coat such a lens with the above mentioned coloring types?

Hi, Eugene. Iridium is an element and apparently it can be sputter coated onto transparent materials like polycarbonate, but sputtering equipment is fairly expensive. You can't paint iridium or anything similar on as far as I know. Unfortunately, no one really knowledgable has responded regarding any iridium optics threads here yet. Here's hoping :-)
