Low Lubricity Plating on Zinc Die-Cast
January 29, 2010
Hello, I have zinc die-cast project that is a small precision part. It acts as a clamp holding a teflon guide wire. The guide wire will be in contact with a lubricant that can ultimately come in contact with the clamp.
So originally I was thinking electroless nickel. Does anyone have any suggestions to meet the criteria below for a small precision zinc die-cast part?
-LOW lubricity
-Corrosion Resistant
-Non Transferable Material
Any help would be appreciated.

Hello Mr Gonzales,
You are on the right track with Nickel; I think just bright nickel plating would also suit the function described, Electroless Nickel may finish off as being too porous and may not be entirely suitable over zinc die cast.
