Cleaning Oakite 160 solids from immersion tank
Is there a chemical treatment to remove/soften/dissolve Chemetall Oakite 160 solids that have bonded to a stainless steel tank? A vibrating hammer and scrappers are currently in use once a year to remove this buildup. Some areas are crystallized, so to prevent damage to the tank they have been left in place for several cleanings. Please no residual material can be left in the tank that may affect tank solution make up. There are 2 locations where the buildup is 4 inches thick.

Bob,
Because of the high concentration of KOH^NaOH (80-90%) dilute acids would be too dangerous. Have to talked to Oakite to see what they would recommend?

Bob-
Oakite 160 will not have this problem in a well-made polypropylene tank. Feel free to contact me if you would like a quote.

Mark,
Oakite has not been contacted, yet. I am counting on people in the industry having the experience to resolve this issue. Thanks for the suggestion.
