Effect of Yellow Passivation Process on Nylon Washer

December 21, 2009

A carbon Steel Threaded Nut is Passivated (Yellow) after inserting a Nylon 6/6 Washer inside it. Does yellow passivation have effect on the properties of Nylon ? If so, what changes it can bring about.
We have an issue of the above passivated nuts getting jammed when these are tightened. We do not have issues with nuts that are not passivated.(these nuts also have the Nylon washer in it)
We have also rule out the issue of quality of threads with passivated nuts by cutting off the nylon washer and tightening the bare metal nut. This is found OKAY

I work with an Multinational company in India which make Road Compaction machinery
