Discoloration in anodizing 606-T6 plate welded over with 5356

December 15, 2009

Hello
I am a fabricator in Greenport, NY and I have been working on samples for a chair. I made some samples to be anodized and they came back with the welds showing. I researched first and was told that if I was using 6061-t6 base material, that 5356 filler would be correct to use. My other situation is that I made samples with a 2024 machine screw threading a joint and then welded over with 5356 and ground down.

Is there any other filler metal I can use to hide the welds after anodizing, or is this as good as it gets?

Thanks for your time
