Trying to pull pure nickel from stainless plate

I am trying to pull nickel from stainless scrap of all grades. I don't know acids too well and would like to get started small. Does anyone no how to start this or ideas.

Brian,
I guess what you are asking is that you want to separate nickel from steel with the nickel layer being in sheet or piece form. If there was an easy way to do this, metal reclamation would be a lot more lucrative than it is now. You could chemically strip the nickel from the steel but the nickel would then be in a liquid form. Permits, proper ventilation, safe equipment are required nowadays to do this kind of work. Once the nickel is in liquid form it can be precipitated down, dried and sent to a refiner. For $7-$8 per pound (Ni pricing) you would lose money on the venture anyway. Sorry if I rained on your parade.
