Kynar vs Powder Coat Finish
We have an application wherein we are installing aluminum architectural railings along a boardwalk that extends over brackish water. The location is quasi coastal and the temperatures get very hot in the summertime. The specs call for a Kynar finish. However, our fabricator advises against the kynar because it is a thermoplastic finish and with heat will scratch and mar more easily. They recommend a thermoset powder finish, but it is not a fluoropolymer powder finish. What you can you tell me about their recommendation? Are we better off with the powder coat finish or the Kynar finish?

Personally, I would consult the engineer that wrote the spec before making any changes.
