Detecting aluminum 4043 versus 4046 or 4047
Hello all and thank you for your consideration -
I need to non-destructively tell between Al 4043 weld wire and 4046 or 4047 (not sure which). This will be in-factory on already welded Al 6061 tubing parts. The weld bead is fairly small i.e. 1/4 inch maybe.
My first instinct is XRF, however the alloys I mention depend heavily on the ability to analyze the Si content and this can be tricky in the field.
Do any of you know other tricks that are non-destructive? example maybe hardness, conductivity, spot test?
thanks much
