"Best" PVC Glue for Chrome Plating Machine
I am currently undertaking a study on replacing the PVC piping associated with a Chrome Plating Machine for Mandrels in the Seamless pipe industry. I just want to be sure the choices I make are the proper ones (obviously). Does anybody have any knowledge or know how into the proper type of PVC Glue / cement to use for this application? I am wondering if the typical products will breakdown or fail sooner as a result of the chromic acid.

PVC "glue" is really a solvent cement. It "melts" the pipe to weld it together as opposed to a glue or cement which holds things together by adhesion. Therefore, if you are using the correct prep material and solvent cement for the type of pipe, then there is no reason to think that chromium would have an effect on the joint different than it would have on the pipe.
