Passivate 13-8 stainless with citric acid
Greetings,
I will soon have some machined 13-8 st. st. parts that need passivation in-house. I want to passivate them with citric acid and best I can tell, a 15 weight % solution may be optimum AFTER I precison clean them. Do others more versed in passivation have other suggestions or comments?
Thank you much,
Tom

The passivation specs call out a 4-10 wt% solution. It's rather doubtful that having your bath at higher than 10% will hurt anything or contribute anything additional.
Let us know if we can help you.

Thank you for the comment. I will abide by the ASTM specification
ASTM A967 and keep it below 10 weight %.
