Welding before plating or after

is it better to weld the two components before electroplating them or after plating them separately. please suggest with full causes and effects

Hi, Bilal. The general answer is weld first, then plate, so that all surfaces are covered with the plating, and the plating material does not interfere with your welding.

But you have not said what the items that you are welding and plating are, nor what material they are made from, nor what metal you are plating them with, nor what your expectations are for the plating -- yet you want a universal answer with full causes and effects :-)

HiBilal,

Better you will do the first welding and do the plating, If your doing plating first then welding, it will give lot defects, like plating will get peel off,Tarnish colour,Scale formation, rust, etc. After plating also do the stress relief is must(200 °C minimum 2 hours, Because while welding stress will introduce and it is more brittle, while application it may break
