Removing gold coating from solid brass faucet
We have solid brass faucets and cabinet hardware in our home. I have already stripped the lacquer off of the cabinet hardware and treated them with ammonia ⇦ this on eBay or Amazon [affil links] to antique them with fantastic results. After taking the lacquer off of the faucets, I have noticed that they are covered with a gold plating material over the brass. It removes easily with 00 steel wool ⇦ this on eBay or Amazon [affil links] , but I am having loads of trouble getting it out of the detail work. The faucets are the brand Harden, which is no longer made. Any help would be appreciated.

Blasting either with sand or glass beads will reach inside the smallest details. Sand leaves a dull finish but is more effective removing coatings. Glass is more gentle and leaves a satin finish. G. Marrufo-Mexico
