Trivalent Passivate Over Aluminum Dissipates within 60 days after application?
I was just informed that the trivalent passivates over aluminum dissipate within 60 days.
Has anyone heard this before?

Hi, Dan. It depends on exactly what "dissipate" means to you. Trivalent chromates cure, dry out, wear off, etc. But are they rendered useless in 60 days, no, of course, not.

After the RoHS implementation we are all sensitized to assure non compliant chromate is not present on our product. A steel manaufacturer has tauted that hexavalent is ok to use since over time it will the CR6 and no longer detectable.
