What is the best approach to nickel-free jewelry plating?

September 21, 2009

My name is Inbar and I am a fashion jewelry designer, I try to plate my jewelry in a nickel free plating but I find it hard to distinguish the different technique that my suppliers use, what is the best way to plate nickel free product? some use palladium base, some plate silver and then gold to receive a nice looking color, some use simply silver or gold without any base before at all,I simply need to know what is the best way to get a good quality plating that last as long as possible, how can learn more on the subject in order to understand what my suppliers are selling me?
thank you very much for your time and attention
Warm Regards
Inbar

Hi, Inbar. A popular and high quality nickel replacement is white bronze. This is an alloy of tin, copper, and zinc which is offered by several major plating process suppliers and gives the general appearance of nickel.
