Stripping PVD coatings

Dear sirs
We are in need of stripping procedure for AlTiCrN and AlCrN PVD coating. Is anybody having these procedure please forward it to me

What you have if it were plasma would probably be called Ncrally, if by N you mean Ni.
Plasma is a lot thicker and on stout parent metal so would be grit blasted and then either caustic soaked or nitric acid soaked or a combination of both.
For PVD, I would contact the vendor or his materials OEM to get their word on preferred strip methods.

A strong alkaline solution (either sodium or potassium hydroxide) with a little bit of Hydrogen Peroxide is normally used to strip TiN. I have never tried it with those coatings you mention but it may work as well because the basic reaction is to dissolve nitrides. The H2O2 reacts violently with the alkali and has to be replenished frequently because of oxygen depletion. Use protective equipment and care.

NaOH/KOH plus H2O2 solution is a source of gas (O2?). NEVER try to keep it in a closed container. IT WILL EXPLODE!
