Mirror Finish to Aluminium Castings (LM-6)

Q. We wish to achieve mirror finish on small aluminium castings . The material is LM-6 and the size of the castings is appox 4 inch X 3 inch X 1/2 inch. The pieces are initially sand blasted with very fine sand. Kindly advice it's quite urgent. Thanks

A. Hi, we are a going on this type of requirement an finishing. Do not necessary to sand blasting on over the job. Just clean it properly by Alkaline and Buff it. The surface will comes as like glass finish. Best luck!

A. Vikram: Just looked at your message today. I do not recommend blasting your parts at all. If your surface finish is finer than 35 RMS, you should consider mass finishing equipment and do either a 2 or 3 step operation. If you surface finish is better than 20 RMS, you should consider plastic media only for cut down and then burnish. If you are looking for speed, you should consider high energy systems. You should be able to go from casting to mirror finish in less than 3 hours. Volume is a whole other issue.
