E-Coat over Alodine, YES or NO?
We have an e-coat painting process for aluminum parts but our overseas counterparts want us to start painting parts that already have an Alodine coating on them. My question is "Can we do this and if so are there any pretreatments that will need to be done to the parts such as etching before coating?" Thank you

Processing aluminum by ED Paint usually use Alodine or chromate as base coat, rather than phosphating for steel. But you must ensure there is no dirt (hand mark, oil, or other) which will cause he ED Paint property not good enough.

Hello
If the Alodine was properly done in the first place you should be able to comfortably run it through a short time degreasing and even a very short phosphate cycle and get a good adhesion and corrosion resistance without any other issues.
