Pinholes in stainless steel Ultrasonic Tanks

We sell Ultrasonic cleaners of various sizes. Recently we supplied 2 nos to an electronics factory for cleaning of PCB's.
They are using Petrol as a medium for cleaning.
Our Ultrasonics are made in SS, have a power of 200 W and also have the option of heating the liquid to around 30 - 100 deg.
After about a week of usage the customer has reported Pin Holes in the Tank.

Could anyone suggest what could be the reasons?

I will bet that they are resting a metal stand on the bottom of the tank. Bad for ultrasonics and bad for the SS.
I would also check the alloy of your SS. You easily could have gotten a bad batch. Certifications are easy to falsify.

Dear,

Pin-holes, or pitting corrosion is practically always generated by chlorides, fluorides, bromides,...
Most stainless steels do not resist chlorides nor fluorides,...
At higher temperatures, the pitting corrosion can go very fast.

Kind regards,

Marc.

Please define Petrol. If you are talking about gasoline or diesel fuel, it could be caused by the additives or the sulfur in them.
