Bronze lamp is causing house paint to bubble and peel

I have 2 bronze sconces on either side of my garage door. One has acquired a coating of some sort, and the paint on the house underneath it has started to bubble and peel. Is there a coating of some sort I can use on the bronze to protect it from the weather (it gets rain and sun)? I'm wondering if the 2 issues are related - they may not be but since the paint on the rest of the house is fine, they seem like they could be related. Thank you for your assistance.

The sconce is trapping moisture under "behind" it. I suspect that you have particle board or similar under the paint and the whole board in that location is absorbing moisture and separating from itself and or the paint.
Take it down to bare wood and prime the area with an oil based primer that you can use acrylic paint over it. There are a few that qualify, but many do not. Then repaint the area and hope.
