Avoiding stains before clear coating brass

We have 20 gauge brass plates we run through a timesaver using 220 grit belt. What is the best way to handle parts so we will not have finger prints on them before we apply a clear urethane coating? What is the best clear coat to use for outdoors to protect the brass finish?

You must provide your employees with cotton gloves at ALL stages of handling of the brass.
Install a small powder coating plant and use a "super durable" polyester or acrylic (if available) powder.

Avoid handling the parts - if no-one handles them there will be no fingerprints. If that is not possible, use clean, cotton gloves. If you cannot keep the gloves clean, you need to either eliminate the contamination that affects the gloves, or clean the parts after handling them.

All surface finishing processes require cleanliness if they are to be successful.
