Nitriding without the compound layer

Looking for a process method to nitride M50 tool steel, without the formation of a white layer.

Plasma Ion Nitriding has complete control of formation of white layer. If you want zero white layer, the process can be set and controlled to give you zero white layer. The process is ran in vacuum plasma ion nitrider with a minor backfill of ultra pure nitrogen gas. When your parts come out they are clean and ready to use...no finishing processes. Are your parts critical? I recommend specifying they be run to the (Aerospace Standard) AMS2759/8 spec by a NADCAP approved heat treater.
