Structure of Hard chrome plating
Dear sir/gentlemen,
We are doing hard chrome plating in a bearing product, in which we achieve Ra and microscopic view (25X) equal to our competitor. But our product performance is not equal when compared to the competitor.
My question is in what aspect I can analyze or compare ours with the competitor. Is there any other thing to analyze in chrome structure in higher magnification.
kindly help me in this regards.
Thanks & regards

Compare hardness of each with a microhardness tester.
The parameters that you run your plating tank will have an effect on the plate. Consult a good reference book for the affect of different parameters.

I think you have to analyze more in detail the purpose of hard chrome plating. I agree to measure the hardness for industrial purposes within range HRC 58-65; HV750-950. For more analysis you need to bring your sample piece to laboratory to do metallurgical test.
If your chrome hardness can not achieve the minimum Hardness for industrial purpose, shall we call cosmetic chrome. If your chrome is an industrial one, you need to evaluate the plating procedures, standard chemical composition etc. Then go to further step is finishing.
