Bolts and nuts for Electrical Termination in outdoor use
Q. Can any expert explain the galvanized BOLTS and Nuts can be used for Electrical Termination in outdoor use? Please suggest I am in urgent need of this answer.

A. For outdoor use, I don't recommend galvanized nuts and bolts for electrical connections.
Reason: the zinc forms insulating oxides which will give you a high resistance connection. If you are carrying high current through this connection, you'll get overheating. If its a high voltage, you'll get arcing. If both V & A are high you could get a fire! Arcing on a zinc connection is not good, you'll get burning of the unoxidized zinc, giving off fumes of ZnOxide.
You could try brass.

Q. Can we use Stainless Steel bolt for termination @ secondary side of Pad Mounted MV Transformer (e.g 500KVA/13.8-0.480/0.277KV) for outdoor installation?
