Shaft of 4140 bends

Q. I have the old furnace in which we are doing successfully the hardening of the D2 material. I am trying to do the AISI 4140 shafts in this furnace. I caught the good result with respect to the hardness but the problem I am facing is the bending of the shafts. I tried the range of quenching medias. can you suggest the process to control the bending of the shafts.

Hi, Javed. Are you saying that the finished components are not strong enough (not enough resistance to bending), or are you saying that they become warped during the hardening process?

Since you have given us very little information, we will have to guess.
Either you are not supporting the rods properly in the oven or you are not rapidly entering the quench media in a very nearly vertical manner.
