What products should be galvanized?
Q. Hi everybody,
Would you please tell me some of the different applications where steel could/should be galvanized. In Egypt we only focus on galvanizing towers' steel. So, we want to start operating in some new market segments so we need to know the various applications where steel used needs to be galvanized.
Waiting for your appreciated replies and thanks in advance.

Hi, Riad. Garbage cans/ash cans, watering cans, feed troughs for livestock, roofing, flashing, cleats, boat lifts & davits, computer room flooring, industrial shelving, conduit and electrical boxes and fittings, pipes, highway guard rails . . .
There are probably many thousands of products. Besides your galvanizing knowledge, what industries do you have knowledge of that could quickly move into?

A. Hi, Riad. In that case just google the phrase "hot dip galvanized" and start listing the products that come up: nails . . . barbed wire . . . screws . . . rebar . . . bleachers & grandstands . . . pole line hardware . . . barn stalls . . .
As noted there are many thousands of galvanized products, and each of them may have dozens or hundreds of subcategories. For example in the case of nut & bolt fasteners alone you have dozens of different screw diameters and lengths, different style of nuts, flat washers, lock washers, belleville spring washers, tapered washers, cotter pins...
Darwin himself said a scientist could waste their life going into a gravel pit every day and listing every color, size , and shape of pebble -- and I'm sure you could spend a month or more going into google listing each galvanized item and still miss thousands of them :-)
Again, I suggest thinking about what expertise you have that can get your foot in the door. Maybe search the site, for "galvanizing problem" and think about which ones you have already solved and whether you can get into those fields by bringing solutions. Good luck!
