Stripping Aluzinc and Then Trivalent Zinc Chromate
May 26, 2009
We have done some testing on pre-plated Aluzinc material that has been stripped and then plated with trivalent zinc chromate. The salt spray (96 hours) results were a disaster.
The Aluzinc may not have completely been removed (still evaluating) leaving splotchy black spots and some white rust.
Any ideas? Thanks!

Hi, Ruth, I am confused. If you stripped the Aluzinc, what did you apply the trivalent chromate to? You can't chromate bare steel.
