What is the formula in getting the Correct Ampere in a copper plate using Ni

Hi To all,

Kindly help me out in getting the correct amperage for plating a copper plate with
surface area of 19cm X 6.85cm using a Nickel solution.
I am currently checking the desired rectifier for my experiment and needed quantity
of Nickel solution so that I won't waste so much materials and chemicals.

Thanks in advance.

Nico,

Nickel plating : 19amps hour per sq.ft to deposit 0.001" nickel or 1.095 grams.

copper plating :

Copper valence 1 (one) 8.89 amps.hr per sq.ft to deposit 0.001" copper.

Copper valence 2 ( two ) 17.8 amps hr per square feet to deposit 0.001" copper.

In a properly maintained plating tank, the nickel portion of the tank will grow very slightly because of the difference in anode and cathode efficiencies. IF you are using the correct anode material. For parts as small as yours, a set of anodes should last a very long time unless you are doing very thick plating. The anode area should be about the same as the cathode (parts) area.
