Simple way to convert doorknobs, hinges from "brass" to "nickel" ?
I am buying a vintage 1971 house with standard brass-plated doorknobs and hinges. I'd like to change them to a more silver look. What is the best way to do this? Is it electroplate? Do I have to take off all the hardware to do it? Thanks

Hi, Jennie. The right way is to take them off and send them to a plating shop for nickel plating. The alternative is to prime them with a Self-etching primer ⇦ this on eBay or Amazon [affil links] , then spray paint them in a decorative nickel-toned color.
