Need an insulation layer on thin brass wires

May 19, 2009

Hi,

I'm in need of finding a way to electrically insulate brass wires in the range of 200 micron diameters. Ideally the insulation layer would be <=20 micron thick, adhere well to the wire surface, and be able to sustain up to 120 degree C. Currently we are brush coating epoxy onto the wire surface, but this method suffers from epoxy bead formation due to surface tension, therefore the coating is very non-uniform.

Does anyone know other ways of adding insulation layer on such thin brass wires? Thanks!

Dry transformers use a baked on lacquer. It might work.
