What is the strongest finish for rear pegs and sprocket

I own a motorcycle and I would like to know what the strongest finish would be. I want to I want to change the color of my rear sets and rear sprocket. the rear sets are where your feet go while riding. I have seen people get powder coating and anodized as a solution but after a few months the coating either scrapes off or wears off same with the sprocket. What could I do that would last longer. The sprocket would seem to be the hardest to keep looking good as the chain would pretty much grind off anything.

First of two simultaneous responses --

Probably a good chrome plating job.

OK, polish the sprocket with a good cleaner/polish like Simichrome this on eBay or Amazon [affil links] and then chrome plate the pegs.

I am looking to "black out" the bike, so chrome is out. I was thinking anodize black but I have no idea how it will hold up to my boots rubbing on it for the next 2 years or so, lol.
