Giving copper flashing an aged look

April 24, 2009

Hello experts,

I am making small sculptures using new copper flashing and round head rivets. The pieces have the potential to be touched or handled when finished. I am trying to figure out how to give the pieces an aged look that will hide some of the hammer/working marks. I also need to know what type of coating I could use to prevent continued oxidation and fingerprinting.

Thanks for your help.

Hi Jerry,

Check the following letters, and remember that you will have to use something - like a clear lacquer - to prevent future corrosion and keep the part the way you want it.

25792, 25871, 26094, 33407, and 36313

Good luck!
