E-coating issue on electrogalvanized material
Hello,
I currently purchase electrogalvanized steel. Once we form it, we send it to an E-coater to be primed. For some reason, once they start the cleaning process, there is a leaf pattern on the metal. We don't know what's causing these leaves marks to show on the metal. Does anyone know?

I would guess that they are using an etch primer or a phosphate pretreatment.
It surely sounds more like conventional galvanizing rather than electrogalvanizing since you are seeing a grain pattern that in mega massive. I rather doubt if they could use that much amperage without "burning" the plate.
