316L electrodes are pitting in hydrogen-from-water service

we are using 316L stainless as a medium to extract HHO from water so it is breaking water down and we are running that thru the cars intake.... now the only problem is the pitting and the different materials that are coming out of the steel ...we use baking soda [in bulk on eBay or Amazon [affil links] in the solution and then 12V DC at 10 amps....is there any way around this problem?

Hi, Serge. I am not sure if I understand your posting . . . You are using electricity to generate hydrogen and oxygen from water, then burning them to try to recover most of the energy you put into the separation process? Is there something else you are trying to do that I'm missing? Platinized titanium would probably be a better electrode material than 316L. Good luck.
