Grey stain and water marks after anodising

We are experiencing grey and patchy stains after anodising. We anodise 6063 profiles, while anodising it has been observed that after etching there is black residual deposit on the surface of profile, which is not completely removed in desmut tank, however we have increased the concentration from 11 to 13% by volume. Also some of the profiles extruded from billets source having same composition are quite good after anodising.

See if you can get by with etching the part less which will reduce the smut. You may have to go to a different desmut material. You may need agitation in the desmut tank to allow it to work better.
