Plating Nickel over Tungsten?

I got a question regarding Nickel Plating over Tungsten Electrodes! The Problem we are facing is we are not able to get the surface finish and the desired properties which is expected to get from the experience over other substrates. Is there any special technique plating Nickel over Tungsten Substrates? or any of the Baths has to changed or some Electric parameters has to be changed?

Hi, Karthick. Your problem is probably that tungsten is a refractory metal that forms a very resistant passive surface. So when you try to plate it, you are actually plating onto the oxide layer instead of plating onto the raw metal. ASM Metals Handbook, Vol. 5, Surface Engineering has an excellent chapter on plating onto refractory metals.
