Hi, Sanjay. The short answer is that EN coatings are hard, electrically conductive, reasonably decorative, and highly corrosion resistant.

But asking for the properties is a tall order indeed! Phosphorous-based EN comes in 3 flavors: low phos, mid phos, and high phos, which are very different from each other -- the first being a microcrystalline solid solution, and the last being a gamma phase amorphous coating. There is also boron-based EN. And heat treatment radically alters the properties compared to non heat-treated coatings.

For a good study of the properties you could consult Mallory and Hajdu's "Electroless Plating" [on eBay , Amazon, or AbeBooks affil links] . I recently attended an excellent presentation by Heatbath's Diana St. Jacques entitled "Electroless Nickel Deposit Properties". It was a powerpoint presentation and you might inquire of Heatbath whether they are willing to e-mail you a copy. Good luck.
