Repaint aluminum patio furniture
Q. My Tropitone aluminum patio furniture has corrosion under the factory paint. How can I prepare the aluminum for a successful repaint job?

Hi, Clyde. You might want to consider taking it to a powder coating shop for stripping, pretreatment, and powder coating. The shop can do a chromate conversion coating as pretreatment, which you can't do because of its toxicity. If you want to repair it yourself, you need to wire brush all loose paint, apply a zinc phosphate primer

eBay
or
Amazon [affil links] , and then finish coat with a paint of your choice (but not epoxy because it's not UV resistant). Good luck.
