Plating F-125 with electroless nickel

March 27, 2009

Hi,
I have to plate needles of F-125 material with electroless nickel. The thickness is about ten microns, but when I do the finishing, the material takes off with roughness. I [tried] many different processes, but I'm not obtaining better results. When I preplated with Wood's nickel, I obtained a little improvement. The material, F-125, has a high percentage of Cr.

Another question: Nobody knows how I can I plate inox. in a drum with electroless nickel?
Thanks for all the answers. Sorry for my poor English.

Hello Asier,
Stainless steel (Acero inoxidable) as well as your substrate (F-125) which I am not familiar with, both need an activating step as you mentioned in a Woods nickel strike. Maybe you are doing something wrong. If you give us complete details about your plating cycle I am sure someone will be able to help you.
