Gold plating 15 to 20 microns on watch cases

Dear Sir,

I am trying to re-plate a watch case that is about 20 microns. I need to cover the edge were the crystal goes and cover the threads on the case back. I tried a lot of solutions and materials but the heat takes everything off in seconds. I was wondering if you had any thoughts on what should be using?

Hi, A. Platers deal with such issues every hour of the day. You should talk to a supplier of maskants for plating like Maskcoat LLC [a finishing.com supporting advertiser].

Semantics again. When you say "I need to cover the..." do you mean that you want those areas plated or masked to avoid plating?

Dear,
you can mask or laminate with masking adhesives or photoresists, which can later stripped in either alkaline solutions or organic solvents.
