Primer for painting stainless steel

I have stainless steel clock hand, about 6" long and I want to paint them black. What is the best primer to use? and where can I get a small quantity in the UK?

You can oil it with any edible oil or fat (very slightly) and then heat it slowly to 300-400 C. Instead of oil you can use 20% shellac solution too. Black finish (or very dark brown). Hope it helps and good luck!

Try black Hammerite Rust Cap [affil links] available from most DIY stores.

It does not normally need a primer.

Try to purchase some one pack etch primer (auto shop supply or local garage may give you some)... mix as instructed. When dry apply the required colour using aerosol can paint.

Another thought is, send the items to my factory (click logo for address) and I will get the labs to coat it in Anoprime and then powder coat it FOC. Inform us what gloss is required. Please include stamped envelope for return of same.
