Erasing colors in anodised titanium?
Q. Definitely, I can't live with out FINISHING.COM. Now the question...
I'm coloring titanium, how can I erase the colors if I don't like it, without using pickling? (H2NO3+HF)
Thank you for your help,

A. Strip the anodize in a mild caustic or mild acid tank.

A. You can use fine sandpaper and I think that it can be removed without HF based mixtures. Try uspto.gov website -- maybe there you can find some useful expired patents on that subject. Hope it helps and good luck!

Q. Thank you for all your replies. At this time I couldn't try any but I'll do this week. I wanna ask to Mr. Goran Budija if the treatment with oxalic acid could damage the mechanical properties of the Ti?

A. This solution can etch titanium at any concentration-according to CRC Handbook of Etchants, New York 1991.
Any beekeepers shop must have it (it is medicine for some bee diseases). KOH solution can be used too (with or without H2O2 addition).Hope it helps and good luck!
