W/w conversion to w/v
Hi, I'm working on a research project and I need to convert 0.2 w/w % copper as copper sulphate
⇦ this on
eBay or
Amazon [affil links] into w/v, would you help me with that please.
Many thanks

First of three simultaneous responses --
Give us the whole problem. Is the weight as copper, a copper salt, hydrated or not hydrated, a solution, what solvent.

Hi
At the concentration you are using, there is no practical difference between w/w and w/v. The calculation is:
w/v = w/w x Specific Gravity
A table for copper sulphate gives 20 g/l (2% w/v) a SG of 1.01. So, your solution would be ~ 1.001 SG. In other words, the difference would be in the order of 0.1%. As solutions become more concentrated the difference does become significant.

Third of three simultaneous responses --
0.2% w/w is two grams per kilogram of solution.
0.2% w/v is two grams per liter of solution.
If you are talking about a solution of copper in water, the two are virtually identical.
