Galvanizing coating thickness for Nuts

February 24, 2009

Hello Sir,

We are using Galvanized Nuts for Fastening Bolts M20. The specification for galvanizing thickness needs a coating of 54 Microns. But when I measured the thickness and average between 32 to 40 is achieved. Is this acceptable? Do you know where can I get a table or chart for Galvanized coating thickness for Fasteners & Nuts.

Looking forward to your assistance.

Simple! If the spec states 54 micron, then anything less fails. Is 40 good enough depends on who you are making the parts for.
