Deep Aluminum Etching
February 19, 2009
Hi,
I want to make a reservoir in an Aluminum substrate which is 2 mm thick. The reservoir is about 6mm in diameter. It has to be 0.1 mm deep into flat substrate of pure aluminum. I need good surface finish.
Please let me know a suitable etchant and procedure for photochemical etching.

Hi, Imran. Why do you want to photochemically etch this instead of simply machining it? Sounds like it would take a millisecond to do it perfectly with an end mill :-)
