Contractor looking for solution to tone down the brightness of new Gavalume roof
The summer camp we are building has several buildings with galvalume metal roofing and siding. The owner wants a more rustic look to the buildings. Ideally they want an old rusty, mining camp look, but will settle for just being able to tone down or in some way minimize the reflective nature of the roofing and siding. Any suggestions are welcome!

I would use an airless paint gun set to throw small globs of paint at a distance where it did not give but about 50% coverage. You can pick the shade of brown that suits you. I would not prep the material, which means that it will slowly slough off, but by that time , the high gloss areas will have dissipated on the unpainted areas.
You could use chemical or mechanical means of killing the gloss, but you will also significantly reduce the useful life of the galvanneal.
