Stainless Steel Brush Finish on Aluminium Profiles
Q. I require Stainless Steel finish on Aluminium Profiles which is currently available in Imported Products, the similar kind of Finish is not there in Any Anodising Plant in India.
So, I have started anodising factory of my own, however I do not have enough technical data to get the desired finish, even the company from whom I'm purchase the Chemicals for Anodising.
I need Technical Data from a consultant for the same.
Hoping to get the results.

A. If the company that you buy the chemicals cannot give your enough help, you will have to hire a consultant. You will find it extremely difficult to get the information for nothing over the internet because we cannot see your parts or the process that you are trying to duplicate.
It very probably is anodized and dyed. The surface may be glass beaded or heavy etched or require a mechanical finish.
In hindsight, you should have verified from your chemical supplier that they could help you get a match for your imported finish before you committed yourself to them. I would have had them do a few sample parts in their lab. If they could not do that, I would not have bought from them, regardless of price.

A. As is mentioned in other responses, we could advise only if we had a physical sample of the requested finish as it could just be a brush finish looking like inox with the help of the clear anodizing layer.

Thank you.

A. Hi Sanjay. I think the first step is to decide from samples whether your customers are interested in anodized finishes or electrocoated finishes or powder coated finishes. Powder coating is probably easiest and least expensive to set up in-house, but it may not offer quite the translucent metallic look that they want.

A. Are you maybe thinking of a finish you would get from putting a straight grain on the aluminum using scotchbrite pads (for example) and then anodizing? The finished product would look like it had "brushed lines" underneath the anodizing.
